DD Prince Books: Trigger Warnings

dd prince trigger warning

Are all my books dark with non-consensual scenes? No. But… I do not guarantee any of them as ‘safe’ as this is subjective.

If you are sensitive to common triggers, many of my books probably aren’t for you.

Many of my books do contain what might be construed as potential triggers for some.  This is the case even with some of the romances that aren’t labeled ‘dark’.

I have stories with antiheroes. With violence. And sometimes we delve into complex / tough mental territory that can leave readers unsettled.

Below are what might be considered a trigger. This list is not exhaustive. Books labeled as dark romance or as having a hint of darkness should be approached with caution if you are sensitive to non-consensual / rough sex.

Before you scroll…

The triggers list does contain  spoilers.

Note: I’ve had problems with my website template and have had to revert to a previous version which has caused problems with the layout of this page. This page previously had hide/view buttons to see triggers. It now lists them all with some code listed within the text. Please be aware of this before scrolling further on this page.  I hope to have it fixed soon. Thank you.

If you have questions about specific books, feel free to reach out via email at ddprincebooks at gmail dot com.

It’s impossible for me to know any / all subjects that are triggering and I never want my books to harm anyone, but readers new to me should be aware that many of my stories have rough sex, angst, and plenty of drama.

The Dominator:

Rape by the hero

Sexual assault by someone else (forced oral sex)

Choking

Bondage & Discipline

Suicide by a parent

Truth or Dare:

Human Trafficking

Sexual Slavery

Nectar Trilogy

Rape

Miscarriage / Abortion

Detour / Joyride

Gang rape by the villains

Scenic Route

domestic violence

Jaded

Self- harm

Cancer

Suicide

Note: in Jaded, there has been some criticism re: the handling of the heroine’s Celiac Disease. I’ve read a criticism thread that was sparked after only a few chapters of the story was read. If the reader had gone deeper, perhaps they’d have seen that this heroine’s character has her putting her own needs last, even knowing she’s harming herself by consuming gluten.  This is part of her character ARC in this story — setting herself on fire to keep other people warm and eventually learning how to change that behaviour. She consumed what she described herself as being allergic to in order to save someone’s feelings. I had zero intentions of spreading harmful information about Celiac Disease. While it was also argued that this is an autoimmune disease that my character described as an allergy, I have a sibling with Celiac who describes it this way to keep it simple when she’s addressing menu/dietary needs with other people unfamiliar with CD.

Saved:

Human Trafficking

Rape

Cancer

Death of a parent

Hollow Duet :

dubcon/noncon

Significant violence between H&h

Savage alpha Shifters Series:

In the Savage Alpha Shifters, alpha males claim their identified mate at all costs. This series includes dub/noncon/kidnapping/captivity/extremely feral behavior.

Wild:

Dubcon, Noncon, Rape – including a particularly feral public scene between the hero and heroine due to extreme possessive alpha tendencies. He also uses orgasms as punishment and frequently pins her down and knots/fucks her when she’s trying to escape him. While he does do a bit of groveling, he is – at his core – alpha male and nothing will stop him from keeping his fated mate.

Twisted:

nonc0n scene

Infertility

The Alphahole Roommates Series:

Cancer

Pregnancy Loss

Severe Mental Health Issues

Death of a Parent.

The Devious Games Duet (Kill Game and Dirty Stack):

Gas lighting

Domestic Abuse

P.S.: I never EVER make light of sexual assault in real life. This is fiction. That’s all. All my books so far also have ‘happy endings’

If you have read one of my stories and felt that a stronger warning should have been included for a trigger, I am open to suggestions for updating this page.  I typically keep my warnings generalized on my blurb and in my books for the vast majority who don’t want the plot spoiled.

I don’t want to debate the subject of a trigger versus something someone simply doesn’t like – I don’t want my books to hurt or upset people. I’m open to listening and to questions if readers need more information to help them decide whether or not a story of mine is right for them. I will repeat that many of my books have antiheroes, violence, and sexual violence and if you’re feeling uncertain and nervous about a book of mine based on something you’ve read or heard, you might want to steer clear.

Thank you!
