Note: in Jaded, there has been some criticism re: the handling of the heroine’s Celiac Disease. I’ve read a criticism thread that was sparked after only a few chapters of the story was read. If the reader had gone deeper, perhaps they’d have seen that this heroine’s character has her putting her own needs last, even knowing she’s harming herself by consuming gluten.  This is part of her character arc in this story — setting herself on fire to keep other people warm and eventually learning how to change that behaviour. She consumed what she described herself as being allergic to in order to save someone’s feelings. I had zero intentions of spreading harmful information about Celiac Disease. While it was also argued that this is an autoimmune disease that my character described as an allergy, I have a sibling with Celiac who describes it this way to keep it simple when she’s addressing menu/dietary needs with other people unfamiliar with CD.

P.S.: I never EVER make light of sexual assault in real life. This is fiction.  Reading offers people a ā€œsafeā€ way to explore subjects and scenarios that they don’t necessarily want to live out in their real life. And in some cases, abuse survivors like to read dark romance as part of their own healing journey. All my books so far also have ā€˜happy endings’

If you have read one of my stories and felt that a stronger warning should have been included for a trigger, I am open to suggestions for updating this page.  I typically keep my warnings generalized on my blurb and in my books for the vast majority who don’t want the plot spoiled.

I don’t want to debate the subject of a trigger versus something someone simply doesn’t like – I don’t want my books to hurt or upset people. I’m open to listening and to questions if readers need more information to help them decide whether or not a story of mine is right for them. I will repeat that many of my books have antiheroes, violence, and sexual violence and if you’re feeling uncertain and nervous about a book of mine based on something you’ve read or heard, you might want to steer clear.

Thank you!
