Why Did Amazon Ban The Dominator?
As of January 30th, 2023, Amazon has decided to ban The Dominator, by DD Prince.
I made this book free for a week to celebrate the 8th anniversary of publishing it so I suspect by this timing that someone downloaded the freebie, didn’t read the warnings, and decided to report it as inappropriate or offensive.
Yes, after eight years, over 10 million pages read and many sales and free copies given away, they have suddenly decided to ban it.
It was temporarily banned for about 24 hours in 2016 and they changed their minds. This time, the decision apparently stands.
At this time, the boxed set and paperback are still available so the book is still purchasable. (Fingers crossed that doesn’t change).
They tell me I need to re-submit with changes that meet their terms of service (without telling me which TOS rules I broke) and that I won’t be able to keep any rankings or any of the 800+ reviews I had against book one. They also won’t reactivate my link so any online content pointing to the link will be broken.
I am considering a redesign of the series and a resubmission. I’ll tackle this project after I finish the book I’m working on right now, so that this doesn’t slow down my progress, and if Amazon still refuses to publish it, I’ll consider alternate platforms.
This makes me very sad. I’ve seen books much darker than this book not getting banned and I’ve also seen books that aren’t as dark as this book getting banned, too. Such is life of an indie author nowadays, I suppose.
I will update when I have a resolution. In the meantime, if you’d like to read The Dominator, you can read it via paperback from Amazon] or purchase or KU the ebook box set (hopefully this continues to be available; they may decide to ban those as well).
