Lockdown was a pandemic novella that I wrote directly after releasing Crossroads (Fork and Jojo’s story) in 2020. How did it happen?
In my reader group on Facebook (DD’s Chickadees) at the very start of the pandemic, one of my readers, Claire F., said she’d love to be put in lockdown/quarantine with Rider Valentine.
This prompted me to set up a poll asking readers which of my book heroes they’d most like to be locked down/quarantined with.
Deacon Valentine from Detour won by a landslide.
I spent a weekend writing a fun and dirty novella from the POV of Deacon, adding Rider and Spencer POV chapters as well as one from the perspective of Laura, Deke’s woman. I gave this away for fun for a few months. I then put it up for sale for a while, too. In 2023, I de-listed it since I didn’t want it to muck up my timeline when I released book 5 in the series for Jesse and Gianna, Jaded.
I thought those who enjoyed the first 3 books might like the bonus of having a copy. If you’d like to read it, it’s a short novella that exists outside the timeline and might take you back to the very beginning of the pandemic when we were all pretty scared and having trouble finding toilet paper.
