I Write THICK Books

Why do I write such big books?

When I was a kid and early in my teens I spent a lot of time at the library. A lot.

When I got excited about cover art, the title, and the font (I’m a font aficionado) and picked it up, when I read the back cover synopsis and knew I would definitely want to read it, the next thing I would do is flip to the back to check the page count.

If it was over 300 pages, I would get extra excited. 400+ and I’d be giddy. Because I knew that not only was I going to get treated to a story, an adventure, but also that I was going to get meat on the bones of that story. I was going to get even MORE.

A cherry on top.

I’ve read some fantastic shorter books. I’ve written a couple shorter ones that I’m super-proud of. They challenge me to be more succint, to write tight. But, gawd, do I love a THICK book, a story that goes on for just a little bit longer. Especially when it’s a romance novel.
